Much Marcle Steam Rally 20th & 21st July 2024

The weekend of 20th & 21st July saw our second show of the year, the Much Marcle Steam Rally.

The weather was much better than last year, with only a few short showers on the Saturday with Sunday being warm and sunny.

We had our small lathe at the entrance to the gazebo with demonstrating to attract the attention of passers by, many of whom then came inside to look round the items on display.

The show is a mixture of steam engines, trucks, cars, motor bikes and vintage farm equipment, all of which attracted a wide range of visitors.

There displays and plenty of locally produced fruit, vegetables etc available as well as food and drink.

We had a constant stream of visitors and lots of interest in how items are made and the wood used, as well as enquiries about the Club itself.

Sales were good and some regular visitors who had bought from us before came back to look around again, and some of the items purchased were even for Christmas presents.

I thinks there will need to be a lot more time spent in the workshop between now and our next show, which is the Tenbury Wells Show on Saturday 3rd August to re-stock our supplies.

Our thanks goes as always to those who helped and made it such an enjoyable time, so if you are able to come to Tenbury Wells, or Kington on September 14th we would love to see you, you don’t have to stay all day if that is a problem you can stay as long as you like.

Also if you have items we could have to sell, either on a commission basis or as a donation to the Club please bring them to the meeting on Thursday.

We do have one request, many of you will be aware of the jumping jacks we demonstrate and sell at our shows, the sales of these alone at Tenbury Wells paid the cost of our pitch, which meant the balance of the profit goes straight into Club funds towards demonstrators etc.  The problem is we have now sold all of our stock, so if you are able to make some they would be appreciated.

Hope to see you at our next Club night.
