Our August demonstrator was Chris Parker who gave us a textured platter and box.

   

Using a yew blank he made a shallow bowl which he textured using a hand held angle grinder with a texturing disc.

 

This was finished using a wire brush to smooth off the texturing which he then scorched the peaks.

Finishing the bowl inside and out with lemon oil.

   

His second item was a small box with a 2/3 body and 1/3 top dimension which he then textured using a rotary wire brush on the outside.

   

He used a dremel drill to add texturing to the top which he then sprayed black and added a blue wax to finish.

Competition

The August competition was a platter for the novices and any recently completed item of their choice from our more experienced turners.
