June 29th was our second ‘Hands On’ night of the year and saw the introduction of our new Twister FU180 lathe.

A demonstration of the lathe was given by David Haines, the larger lathe will offer more capacity for our future demonstrators as well as our own members and will be used for training.

Outside John Tetley gave a well attended talk on the correct and safe use of the chainsaw and Brian Ford brought in a variety of jaws, tool rests and jam chucks.

The display table gave us a variety of items, large and small for discussion about types of wood and finishes.

Our next meeting is on Thursday 27th July when Martin Saban-Smith will be demonstrating a Japanese style lidded pot using two species of timber – look forward to seeing you all then.
